Education

University of the Pacific M.S. Student, Biology 2025 — present

Cornell University, College of Arts & Sciences B.A., Environmental Biology and Applied Ecology 2018 — 2022

Research & Professional Experience

University of the Pacific, Stockton, CA M.S. student, Odom Lab 2025 — 2027

Passive acoustic monitoring of urban bird communities. I am using automated acoustic recorders (AudioMoths) and machine learning-based species identification (BirdNET) to assess patterns in bird species richness and occupancy in relation to vegetation structure and urban land use to inform citywide greening initiatives.

California State University, Los Angeles Research Assistant, Wood Lab of Avian and Urban Ecology May — December 2024

Urban food web dynamics. Conducted point-count bird surveys evaluating how the planting of 200 oak trees on campus contributed to urban biodiversity. Examined the capacity of native and non-native oaks to support urban food webs, including insects and birds.

U.S. Geological Survey, Southwest Biological Science Center, Moab, UT Biological Science Technician February — December 2023

Terrestrial dryland ecology. Conducted extensive fieldwork across a suite of projects spanning adaptive management, dust and aeolian processes, rangeland management, sediment transport, dryland inventory and monitoring, biological soil crusts, wildfire, and nonnative species.

Cornell Lab of Ornithology & Western Sydney University Lyrebird Lab — NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) June — August 2022

Superb Lyrebird behavioral ecology. Studied vocal behavior and song dialects across the species’ population range in eastern Australia. Deployed SWIFT autonomous audio recorders and motion-triggered cameras near display mounds and managed the resulting data.

Cornell University Plant Pathology Herbarium, Ithaca, NY Museum Curatorial Assistant November 2018 — November 2019

Fungal biology. Packaged and labelled fungal specimens for museum research.

Teaching

University of the Pacific, Department of Biological Sciences Teaching Assistant — General Biology 51 and 61 2025 — present
